This weekend I took part in Florida's largest hackathon for the first time! I decided to work together with my friend, Kathryna Reiz, to deliver a project by the deadline. Kathryna and I knew we would be in for a challenge as we are both beginner programmers and this was our first hackathon.

Inspiration The inspiration for this game was largely from the current COVID pandemic. We understand that travel plans have been put to a stop, and the opportunity to learn more about the wonders of the world with that.

What it does Experience a feeling rather likely to that of reading a book, but through a videogame! The goal of World's Wonders is to allow players an experience similar to that of traveling. Players will be able to engage in thrilling quests with mythological creatures from around the world, complete their quests, and earn the powerful knowledge of their origin and history. How We built it Kathryna illustrated all the visual elements of the game using Adobe Photoshop. Designed using Unity3D Engine. Programmed using C# language in Visual Studio.

Challenges we ran into Time restraint made it incredibly difficult to include a lot of content, so we had to settle for a prototype. Accomplishments that we're proud of We both got to learn something new from working this project. As first time hackers, we're simply proud to have pumped out a project we worked really hard on for this hackathon, despite the time constraints put on us. What we learned How to create a visual novel experience! What's next for World's Wonders Prototype? We might consider developing a full version of the novel for others to enjoy!

  • I worked on the backend and frontend of the project, creating code from scratch and putting each piece together on the Unity3D Engine. This prototype was very challenging, but fun to create!

  • I lead the art direction and design of the visuals for the game. As a first time hacker, I found it was extremely fun to challenge myself and learn new things along the way.
